Art Rave

Pay-It-Forward Awardee

Art Rave, director of the Cheyenne River Long-Term Recovery Group, leads community-driven disaster preparedness and recovery efforts across the Cheyenne River Reservation and Standing Rock Reservation, where severe weather, housing instability, and geographic isolation often limit outside aid. Drawing on construction expertise and strong local trust, he has organized volunteer first-response training, emergency communications, and housing repair initiatives that help residents protect and support one another before, during, and after disasters. Community-centered efforts have strengthened resilience, dignity, and long-term stability while fostering connection and hope across historically underserved Indigenous communities.
