Sergeant First Class Rosa Cortez

Pay-It-Forward Awardee

Sergeant Rosa Cortez is a recruiter for the Oregon Army National Guard who is dedicated to helping individuals from all backgrounds pursue education, leadership, career opportunities, and meaningful service to their country. Drawing from her upbringing as the daughter of farm workers, she is passionate about creating pathways that help others build stability and purpose for themselves and their families. One of the most impactful aspects of her work has been guiding soldiers and their families through opportunities connected to military service, including parole in place programs that can offer reassurance and support to military families facing immigration related challenges. While this work has become especially meaningful to many families in rural Oregon, Cortez’s mission remains centered on serving all individuals seeking growth, opportunity, and a future of service and leadership.
