Singing Resistance
Organizational Awardee

Singing Resistance originated in Minneapolis amid the 2026 surge in immigration enforcement and the broader community response to its impacts, including widespread fear, disruption, and protest. Rooted in traditions of protest music and nonviolent resistance, the effort began as a small group and quickly grew into large public gatherings—drawing thousands of participants singing in churches, streets, and outside ICE-related sites—to oppose enforcement actions and support affected families. In just weeks, Singing Resistance expanded into a national force, demonstrating how accessible, creative action can mobilize communities, sustain momentum, and transform protest into a collective act of resilience.
